Cheam Common Infants School

Worcester Park - Surrey

Built: February 16, 2015

“There was great excitement today. Thanks for all your hard work and cooperation last week.” V. Riziotis – Head Teacher

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

The school’s PTA had worked hard at raising some funds to include some more Active and Physical Equipment within the play area.

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:

To give the children a different perspective on the plain tarmac play area we laid some new ground graphics including an Exercise Trail, Alphabet Shapes game, Beanbag Dart Board game and an Animaze. The two new items of Adventure Trail chosen were the Balance Junction and Net Crossing. A Local Shop Head-Through Panel gives the children some additional imaginative play opportunities.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:

All the graphics laid were designed to help improve the children’s physical activity during break times. They can use the graphics for constructive games and exercise. Our Adventure Trail units will help the children improve their balancing, traversing and coordination skills.
