The Team Hi, I am Adam, Director of Educational Play Environments. We create outdoor learning environments for schools and parish councils. Together with our experience and your ideas we can create outdoor learning environments to encourage children to have fun while improving active, social and imaginative abilities. As a youngster I was constantly out and about on a bike, climbing trees or kicking a football around with friends down the road where I lived. We now live in a generation where I see less and less children playing out on the streets with the introduction of video games and tablets taking over. Many children will now opt to stay indoors playing with friends via the internet on their favourite game or engaging on social media platforms. Having studied Graphic Design and Computer Aided Design, my first full time job was within the Play Industry in 2006. Five years down the line an opportunity to set up a business with a good friend arose and Educational Play Environments was born in 2011. It is my passion to help ensure children are physically active and getting as much exercise as possible to help stay fit and healthy. Time spent within school hours is now key to ensure children are achieving the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day. As playground equipment manufacturers and suppliers, Educational Play Environments understand that play is a fundamental element in improving a child’s development and understanding of the world. We believe that utilising the outdoors as an extension of the classroom and creating an environment in which children can play and learn together or independently can significantly benefit their physical and mental ability, health and their social interaction. We create outdoor learning environments for schools and councils. I guess my story starts from a young age, I always felt larger than the other children I knew and as a result didn’t have the opportunities to exercise like they did during football and sports practice. We just simply had no play equipment at school. Rugby was the sport I was good at, a classic prop until repeated injuries got the better of my body! Having spiralled into break times full of fatty treats and indulging while socialising instead of exercise, I quickly learnt a lot about making and keeping friends but entered the obese category for most of my childhood. Something which I was made fun of on a regular basis. I was one of the lucky ones who managed to use this to my advantage and turn it into positive energy to get more active and eat healthy. Who knew that this would be the driving force for my future career, having established Educational Play Environments in 2011, with a good friend of mine. We quickly realised we had something other playground companies didn’t have, a real passion and understanding of the benefits of play and getting children more active. What we can do for them now will only stand them better prepared for situations in the future and no one needs to be bullied for something so preventable.
