Whitchurch Combined School

Aylesbury - Buckinghamshire

Built: February 15, 2015

“Thank your team for their hard work installing the trim trail. Everyone agreed it was a pleasure to have them on site.” A. George– Bursar

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

“We needed to offer the children more resources at break times to engage them in challenging and active play”

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:

This project was developed in two phases. Phase 1 was the installation of the Yangtze Combination Trail and a Log Balance Double to offer the children a continuous new trail of activity.

Phase 2 was the completion of a new Adventure Trail with some more challenging high level units. The Stepping Logs and Net Ladder leads into the Overhead Trapeze and continues onto our 1.5m High Up & Over and as a stand-alone until at the end of the trail we installed some Chin Up Bars.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:

All ranges of challenging activities are now available for the children including balancing, climbing, traversing, crawling all of which will help them improve their coordination, upper and lower body strength, social interaction and overall health and well-being.
