What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

“To give the children more apparatus to play on to promote physical activity. To promote music. To have a space that will act as a quiet area as well as a growing area to help promote healthy eating.”

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:

3 Areas were updated in our latest project at the school and we have detailed them below:

Active and Physical Area – A new 2.4m High Timber Group Swing was included on the field which already incorporated one of our Combination Trails, Traverse Wall and Forest Climber 2. The group swing completes the set with a new experience for the children to encounter.

Musical Area – We installed a Papilio Bells and Set of 3 Congas next to an existing outdoor classroom. The instruments give a range of music to be able to be created by the children and can be viewed from the stage of the classroom.

Quiet and Planting Area – Our Planter Pergola was located a bit closer to the school building to give the children a new place for shelter and shade, a place to sit and relax and provides an area for digging and planting activities.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:

Active and Physical Area – The thrill of swinging is important in any play space as children simply enjoy the feeling. Our Group Swings provide an exciting meeting place for children who want to improve their sense of risk and adventure. The basket seat also means children can interact and experience the excitement together.

Musical Area – Using our Outdoor Musical Instruments children are able to make melodic music straight away which helps them discover their creative side whilst improving social skills with the other children.

Quiet and Planting Area – The shelter provides a place for children to relax and improve their social and communication skills whilst they sit and talk or even to each other through the flower talk tubes. Digging and Planting activities are important to help children learn about healthy eating and sustainable living.

What were your main reasons for working with EPE over other competitors?

“Have had their products before.”

Combination Trail, Traverse wall and Forest Climber Project

“Very pleased the installation went extremely smoothly and the contractors were great! The children are loving the new equipment and we are keen to get some more. 10/10 Excellent!”
E. Pearson – Head Teacher

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?
“We wanted to give the children extra things to do at break times and also promote physical activity.”

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:
Teynham Parochial C of E Primary School identified the items of equipment they would like to purchase in order to help encourage physical activity at break times. Working with an open grass area was not an issue, so it just came down to the budget available. Here at Educational Play Environments we are always keen for the school to get as much equipment as possible for the children. We worked closely with the staff at the school and it was decided that our Yenisey Combination Trail and Forest Climber 2 were the perfect choice of equipment. Our Combination Trails allow additional elements to be added in the future as and when funds become available. This worked perfectly for the school, as they will be looking to expand on the equipment recently installed in the future.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:
A previously open grass area has now been utilised to help encourage the children to become more active during break times. The new units offer many activities such as balancing, traversing, swinging and climbing.
