Kelly – Head Teacher What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space? “We needed shade for the summer weather when it was really sunny but didn’t want to buy something that would only be useful when it was hot so chose the outdoor classrooms that can be used all year round” How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children: We provided two 4.0m Hexagonal Classroom with Traditional Timber Roofs onto bases prepared by the school. This Hexagonal Classroom comes with half height sides for protection against the weather. It has a fully decked floor. How the children will benefit from the new play area: The school have already got many different uses out of the classroom for the children. They have been using it as a learning space, performance stage, quiet zone, party hut and an altar. The Hexagonal Classrooms offer such a versatile space for the children allowing them to explore social interaction, imagination games and fun and learning in an outdoor environment.
