St John’s Catholic Primary School

Camborne - Cornwall

Built: February 13, 2015

“The children love it, they are using the equipment everyday. The view of the school from the gates has been improved by having this installed on the previously grassed area. 9/10” Helen Vickers – PTFA Chair

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?
The PTFA wanted to create a new play environment for the children on the empty grass area to the front of the school. Working to a strict budget the school were keen to add some exciting Adventure Trail equipment.

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:
Our design team is experienced in working with tight budgets and creating exciting new play areas. Following on from the brief, we worked up a few options for the school including many different
Low Level Adventure Trail units. After a brief discussion and some slight amendments, the school were delighted to go ahead with the new play area.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:
The previous unused grass area has now been utilised to offer the children an exciting new play area. Our Log Balance, Net Ladder, Balance Weave and Rope Balance units were installed linked together to form a continuous trail. The new units offer many activities such as balancing, climbing and traversing helping to develop upper and lower body strength.
