“Super experience and love the play area” J. Clements – Head Teacher

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

“Lack of existing opportunity”

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:

We had a raised grass area to work with which was set in the more natural side of the school with winding pathways and tree cover. To complement the setting, we chose a selection of our timber units to form a complete Adventure Trail consisting of a Log Balance Double, Overhead Trapeze, Up & Over, Walk and Stretch Posts and Chin Up Bars. The Adventure Trail was laid out to provide a scale of challenges right from the start of each end. We provided an all-weather wearpad of Rubber Mulch to the immediate extents of each unit and this was then linked to the existing paving pathway to allow the children to access their new equipment in most conditions.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:

The children will be encouraged to increase their physical activity with the addition of their new Adventure Trail. They can now develop their balancing, climbing and traversing whilst improving upper and lower body strength.
