“We know the children will be extremely excited to go on it straight away” G. Brown – Head Teacher

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?
A new outdoor climbing structure to capture the children’s imagination during break times was required by Nonsuch Primary School.

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:
A Forest Climber 1 was the perfect choice for the school’s new project. It provides an unstructured climbing environment and can accommodate large numbers of children during their break but at the same time it does not detract from the natural surroundings of the existing playing field. The Forest Climber 1 was installed into the grass by our experienced team. Grassmat Safety Surfacing was laid underneath linking the new unit to the existing Tarmac surface helping the children to access the new area in all weather conditions.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:
There is no structured way of using the Forest Climber units so the children are encouraged to make their own choices and explore their own sense of risk. Co-operation will be tested when there are a few children on the beams at the same time. Every element of the Forest Climber is designed to improve upper and lower body strength whilst inspiring the children to keep active by exploring its varying levels time and time again.
