Hayes - Middlesex

Built: September 20, 2018

“The children are really enjoying the new equipment, it’s bought the outdoor area to life. A direct quote from one of the children goes like this ‘We love our new play times!’ We experienced no issues and received really good communication. The team worked around timings during the summer. 10/10 – Excellent” R. Frempong – EYFS Lead Practitioner

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

“We needed a revamp and to offer the children some new physical development activities. It needed to be a change from the original layout of just a square of wet pour on concrete to a structured climbing frame.”

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:

The area in question and the age range of the children all needed to be considered during this project. We had to include as much activity as possible in a small space while making it accessible for 3-4 year olds. One of our bespoke Timber Multi-Play Towers was the perfect addition.

We provided a Triple 0.6m High Timber Multi-Play Tower which included the following activities:

  • Timber Cargo Net Bridge
  • Ladder Bridge
  • Scramble Net
  • Timber Climbing Wall
  • Fireman’s Pole
  • Timber Access Steps
  • Moulded Slide

The Multi-Play Tower was surfaced with green Artificial Grass to complement the natural feel of the Timber and around the edge we included a roadway for bikes, trikes and scooters.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:

The children now have a structured climbing environment where they can experience play opportunities such as climbing, sliding, stepping, balancing and traversing. All the activities provided by the new Timber Multi-Play Tower will help them improve their hand and eye coordination skills and develop their physical strength and fitness.

The Roadway offers an additional play opportunity to increase their fitness by whizzing around on bikes, trikes and scooter whilst giving them unlimited imaginative opportunities. They will also be introduced to a basic understanding of roadway rules with Zebra Crossings and one-way movement.

What were your main reasons for working with EPE over other competitors?

“Design, variety, an open-ended structure and the natural look.”
