Thorne – Head Teacher What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space? “We were replacing an older ‘trim trail’ that is over 10 years old!” How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children: The school were looking for an activity frame that offered as much challenge and as many play opportunities as possible for the area and their budget. Our Play Frame 6 fitted the brief expertly offering all the following units in one continuous square of activity: Log Balance, Rope Balance, Rope Traverse, Log Crossing, Traverse Wall x 2, Log Roll, Rope Weave, Rope Twist, Balance Weave, Roll Over Bar x 2, Chin Up Bar x 2, Rope Challenge, Log Climber and an Overhead Trapeze an amazing 17 stations of play! How the children will benefit from the new play area: The children now have a natural but challenging climbing environment. They can test their skills at balancing, traversing, climbing, crawling, swinging and jumping. While testing these skills they will develop their coordination and upper and lower body strength. In turn this helps create an all round environment for them to improve their health and future well being. Encouraging them to take part in physical activity is key and the Play Frame 6 invites them to explore this curiosity. What were your main reasons for working with EPE over other competitors? “I really liked the design and layout of the framework.
