“We are very pleased with the overall experience and very happy with our new play area.” J. Joy – Senior Support Officer

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

“Parts of the old equipment were rotten and unable to be used.”

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:

The old trim trail had served its time and was now in need of rejuvenating to allow the children to play in this area safely. Although it was an area for younger children, 4-5 year olds the school wanted to focus on the new unit being a real test of their abilities. Our Play Frame 6 is a mix of high and low level challenges perfect for 4-11 year olds. To cater for the younger end of the spectrum we increased the length of the hand ropes, so accessibility was improved. A new Up & Over Mini was included to add further choice of play. The existing surface was in good condition so once we had installed the new units new contrasting patch repairs were included.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:

The children’s new Play Frame and Up & Over Mini will test them in many different areas of physical skill including balancing, climbing, swinging, rolling, traversing and stretching. They will improve their fitness and physical activity time at the same time being tested for their sense of risk an accomplishment in a new challenging play environment.
