“Thank you we are delighted – the children are very happy!” Mrs M. Dickson – Head Teacher

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?
To increase seating provision and provide Imaginative Play opportunities.

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:
Our Adventure Train was located in the existing tarmac playground to create a main feature for break times. Two planter benches were positioned on the borders of the existing area making a quiet space to relax. Finally a KS1 Picnic Bench was added to the existing raised bark pit creating a natural seating area for the children.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:
All the items added will increase the seating provision for the children giving them many more places to meet, socialise and relax from the usual bustle of the playground. The Adventure Train can encourage Imaginative Play as the children can immerse themselves in a world of pretending to travel to any destination they can think of. Including the planter options on the end of the bench seats will also give the children a chance to engage in planting and digging activities helping them to learn about the benefits of growing their own plants and vegetables.
