“The main reason for working with EPE over other competitors was the range of products offered” M. Hannaford – Headteacher

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?
After the PTA at Derby High School had successfully raised funds, they were keen to enhance their existing Play Area. The Infant Area had limited space and the Junior Area was an open space where ball games take place. The children had made a request for more activities in the playground through the school council.

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:
Due to the limited space it was decided that adding a selection of Play Panels to the existing area would be a great way to provide new play opportunities for the Infant and Junior aged children. Adding Play Panels is a great cost effective method of enhancing your existing Play Area whilst not taking up valuable space. We secured our panels to the existing bow top fencing in the Infant Area and to the existing brick wall in the Junior Area. Our Wall Targets were also secured to the existing brick wall to add further activities for ball games. Lastly we also supplied two new benches to add additional seating for the children.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:
By adding new Play Panels to the two areas the children will now be able to engage in many different activities during their break times. Whilst playing they can develop their emotional and social interaction, understanding of sharing, manipulative abilities, language and communication skills.
