“Children love using it – now more accessible in it’s current position so can be used even when the grass is wet.”  C. Summers – Head Teacher

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

Over a yearly timescale Churwell Primary School worked with us to design and implement two new play areas.

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:

The first area was to develop an existing grass area close to the tarmac that always became wet and muddy during playtime into an exciting new zone for the children. We supplied a bespoke Orinoco Combination Trail which connected each end to the tarmac and was surfaced with Gummibond Recycled Rubber Mulch meaning the play equipment could be accessed in all weather conditions.

The next area to complete was existing wet pour with a very old play tower on it. We provided the school with a removal service and then replaced the old unit with a 0.6m High Early Years 3 Tower Multi-Play Tower which included Steps, Fireman’s Pole, Slide, Tunnel and Bridge all in a vibrant multi-coloured scheme.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:

The children now have so many choices to get them involved in fun, physical activity. They can climb to improve upper and lower body strength, crawl and clamber to improve coordination skills and keep constantly active at break times to improve health and well-being.
