Clarke – Head Teacher What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space? “Our children were missing out on an outside resource due to the existing trail needing replacement and being out of action.” How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children: Bringing this old and tired area back to life was umber one priority. It had been a while since the children had a safe and exciting outdoor resource. We provided a Forest Climber 2 and a espoke Combination Trail which included – Balance Weave, Rope Balance, Log Balance x 2, Rope Traverse, Log Crossing and Traverse Wall. The Combination Trail was connected to two existing trail units to salvage as much activity from the previous area as possible. How the children will benefit from the new play area: The children now have the encouragement to go and enjoy their play times meaning they will benefit from increased physical activity and help them develop many different skills such as balancing, traversing, climbing, crawling and risk taking. Their physical upper and lower body strength will be developed with continuous use of their new play area making for entirely better approach to their health and wellbeing.
