Carlton Vale Infants School

Kilburn - London

Built: February 14, 2015

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?
The School Council wanted to use some of the funds they had recently raised to improve their existing play area.

How we transformed the play area to provide outdoor learning opportunities for the children:
A musical corner was created in the large play area to bring a new dimension of play. This consisted of our Alto Pentatonic, Playtronic Bongos and Piano Panels and a Wazawa Mini-Series Outdoor Musical Instrument. For the artistic and creative children a selection of our Art and Crafts panels were installed around the school and a Wobbly Mirror was added to a blank wall to give the children a new view of themselves after working so hard throughout the day! Finally a selection of our larger more colourful Ground graphics were laid in all areas including within the relined road track.

How the children will benefit from the new play area:
The new range of Musical, Imaginative and Creative equipment the children now have access to during break times will allow them to explore their hidden talents with friends or on their own whilst helping to improve coordination, social, literacy and artistic development. The new Ground Graphics will improve the children’s physical activity offering them different active games to play whilst improving their literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
